After Christiania and the authorities have come to an agreement in 2011, it has been left alone despite original opposition from the past. You cannot buy a house in the small town; you will have to apply for one and meet a particular criteria which is given to you, and it is also car-free. There is always a lot of things going on, from live music to excellent street food and even a local market.
No matter how artsy and quirky neighborhoods could go, nowhere in the world does it better than the Vesterbro. This area, located in the southwest of the city, was once known for being a heavily working class neighborhood and was even famed for its red-light district! It is now known as a trendy and hip place full of independent attractions, cafes and easteries.
