Luna and Thomas’ story with camels.

By Namague Jul 6, 2019

“First time I got on a camel was in Australia. I fell in love with them instantly, such amazing animals. I feel like I’m twelve again, thanks guys.”

Thomas from spain says to Hamid, one of our most beloved Morocco desert tours tour guides, when he got the chance to roam the desert on Camel ride Marrakech. These adorable creatures do not just get you across miles of sand, but they keep you in an serene mood for the whole experience. The way they’re built is just too amusing to look at. Believe us, we’ve been looking at them for twenty straight years, and we still adore the way their humps are shaped.

First, a little backstory;

they have been around since 4000 BCE. Camels have been domesticated in Arabia long ago. Another thing that should be known is that there are numerous breeds of camels. Roughly 97 domesticated breeds are in India and in the Horn of Africa. The ones we have are a particular breed. They can carry about 375 to 600 lbs. That’s why they’re called the “ships of the desert”. However, they’re all equally adorable. Thousands of years after they spawned to existence, they’re with us. Helping us show you a good time.

Luna, Thomas’ daughter, though that that was confusing. So, to simplify, we said this: There are two types of camels. Those with one hump, and those with two. A dromedary camel has one hump, and a Bactrian camels has two humps. They store fat or food in there, so that when they get hungry, they can use the stored fat as food. Pretty cool huh?
